Dr. Gennady Landa is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and a full-time faculty member at the Department of Ophthalmology of the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He completed two-year vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at the NYEEI, which is the oldest and one of the busiest eye hospitals in US and is also consistently ranked as one of the nation’s best ophthalmic hospitals by the US News and World Report survey. Dr. Landa is a vitreoretinal specialist who provides both surgical and medical management of the entire range of conditions that can affect the back of the eye, including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusions, retinal detachment, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, myopia, retinal tears, hereditary and inflammatory retinal diseases, pediatric retinal diseases and ocular trauma. Dr. Landa maintains special interest in surgery of the macula, retina, and vitreous including laser surgery for diabetic ocular complications and retinal tears, injections of Avastin and Lucentis, pneumatic retinopexies, scleral buckles, vitrectomies, and secondary intraocular lens implants. He uses the most advanced surgical techniques to treat his patients. In addition to being a busy vitreoretinal surgeon, Dr. Landa is an active researcher. He is currently involved in both basic and clinical research of novel ways to treat and prevent age-related macular degeneration (AMD), inherited retinal degenerations, and other ocular diseases. Dr. Landa is also developing new retinal imaging techniques at the Advanced Retinal Imaging Center of the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and is also actively involved in development of new vitreoretinal surgical instruments and novel surgical techniques for treatment of vitreoretinal diseases.
