He is a registered psychologist with the Health Professionals Council in the UK and with the British Columbia College of Psychologists in Canada. He carries out regular assessments of children and adults in Geneva, UK, Canada, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Egypt and Kuwait. He is a co-director of The LIT Group on West Vancouver and director of Global Educational Consultancies (GEC) (Egypt) and was also a consultant to the Institute of Child Education and Psychology, Europe (ICEPE) and the Open University in the UK and a number of other organisations such as the BBC in the UK and the Child Early Intervention Medical Center (CEIMC) in Dubai. He was formerly a senior lecturer in the Department of Educational Studies, Moray House School of Education, University of Edinburgh from 1991-2007. He has been visiting professor in the Department of Educational Psychology and Special Education at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada on two occasions. He is currently the international consultant for Canadian Academy of Therapeutic Tutors and Chair of there BDA Accreditation Board in the UK. Dr. Reid is a co-founder and director to the Red Rose School for children with specific learning difficulties in St. Annes on Sea, Lancashire. He has currently 40 books in print in the area of teacher education in the field of dyslexia, literacy, learning styles and motivation and classroom management. Many of his books are used as core course texts in courses throughout the UK and in many other countries. Some of his books have been translated into Arabic, Polish, French, Italian and Greek. Gavin Reid utilises his experiences as a teacher, educational psychologist, researcher, university lecturer and most importantly as a parent in his work.
