Firas Chamas MD PhD is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon who studied under experts in the treatment of complex spine disorders. After completing his fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University Hospital, he served as an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. There he gained extensive experience in complex as well as minimally invasive techniques of spine surgery. He also pioneered minimally invasive approaches to lumbo-pelvic fixation in the treatment of complex sacral fractures and tumors. Dr. Chamas lived most of his life in New York. He received his MD/PhD from New York Medical College in Valhalla and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. He spent a few years away to train and embellish his skills in Baltimore and Birmingham and then decided to come home to New York. Dr. Chamas is a strong believer in listening to the patient, examining the patient and working together with the patient to decide on the best treatment option for each individual. His wide array of invasive and non-invasive techniques enables him to tailor an optimal treatment plan for each individual patient.
