Farzin Kabaei, M.D. is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic trauma surgeon who specializes in hip and knee reconstruction. Dr. Kabaei is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. Dr. Kabaei has extensive experience in minimally invasive hip and knee replacement and revision surgery. He is considered a regional expert in the treatment of patients with orthopaedic trauma and complex joint problems from previous trauma, infection, and childhood deformities and in the treatment of failed, painful, and infected joint replacements. Additionally, Dr. Kabaei has specialized training in robotic hip and knee surgery and is the an associate at DOCS Spine and Orthopaedic Hospital, which takes a multidisciplinary approach to patients with both hip and spine disease. Dr. Kabaei received his undergraduate degree in neuroscience from UCLA graduating Summa cum laude. Dr. Kabaei earned his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx NY. As a medical student, he was honored with the AOA medical honor society award for being in the top 10% of all medical students in the country. Dr. Kabaei completed his orthopaedic residency training at Montefiore/Einstein Medical Center in New York City. As a resident, he earned the highest honor of being named Resident of the year, as chief resident, for his exceptional surgical skills, bed-side manner, and collegiality with staff. He completed his fellowship training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, in Los Angeles, under the mentorship of world-renowned trauma surgeon, Dr Don Wiss. After completing his training, Dr Kabaei joined Permanente Medical group, and eventually help run the department as Assistant Chief. During his 8 years at Permanente, he chaired multiple committees, including The Peer Review and Quality Committee and The Outpatient Total joint Committee. He helped develop a multi-modal approach to minimally invasive total hip and knee surgeries, which in turn allowed for patients to safely undergo outpatient surgeries. Dr kabaei also served as Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Community Memorial Hospital, in Ventura CA., where he helped train our newest members of the orthopaedic surgical community.
