Dr. Erika King is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry practicing in Sebastian, FL with a diverse educational journey. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA in 2006. Upon completing Spelman, she worked as a pharmaceutical representative for Pfizer, Inc. from 2006-2009. She then obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry in Nashville, TN in 2014 followed by the completion of a General Practice Residency at Harlem Hospital Center in New York, NY in 2015. Afterward, Erika served the Pinellas County community in the Tampa Bay area at a federal health-qualified center for 4 years as a general dentist. She then returned to New York to earn her Pediatric Dental certificate from Harlem Hospital Center affiliated with Columbia University in 2011. Since completing her pediatric dental residency, she has obtained her Florida sedation permit and has been working in a private practice. She is currently serving as the Vice-President of the Florida Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and is also on the New Dentist Committee for the National Dental Association in which she was recently selected as a 2023 40 under 40 nominee. She also has expertise in first dental visit education and sedation dentistry, the dental practice in which she works has an on-site anesthesiologist. In addition to her professional achievements, she enjoys a balanced life outside of work by engaging in community events, cooking, traveling, fitness, and spending time with her loved ones. Her participation in international dental mission trips and projects underscores her commitment to using her skills and expertise to help those in need, both locally and globally. Some of her international community affairs include partaking in a mission trip to St. Marys Parish, Jamaica to work emergency dental clinics, and a people-to-people dental hygiene project in Havana, Cuba. Most recently, she was able to visit the Childrens Hospital Dental Department in Panama City, Panama on behalf of the United States smile train team to discuss cleft palate treatments for local children. Dr. King has a strong family legacy in dentistry. She is a fourth-generation Meharrian and dentist. Her great-grandfather is Dr. Joseph King, Sr., DDS - Meharry class of 1927. Her grandfather is Dr. Joseph King, Jr., DDS - Meharry class of 1954. Her father is Dr. Joseph King, III, MD - Meharry class of 1981 and her uncle is Dr. James King, DDS - Meharry class of 1985. She is excited to be part of the professional dental community and looks forward to contributing however she can.
