An Irish Egyptian Psychiatrist, (a 2001 Cairo University/ Kasr Einy Medical graduate), with a Master's degree in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (for complex disorders) from The UK (2007) and Eating Disorders Practitioner diploma (NCfED). Spent several years lecturing at Oxford University (Clinical Psychology doctorate course- CBT-E and CBT for PTSD) while working at Cotswold House (Oxford Eating Disorders unit). Co-headed Medecins Du Monde's Mission to Egypt as its Medical coordinator, focusing on designing, advocating for, and implementing 'the integration of mental health into primary health services through a 'stepped care approach. Trained many medical staff and psycho-social workers of both the Ministry of Health and many national and international NGOs on psycho-social interventions within the community. Currently enjoying Cornwall and working with young people as a CAMHS advanced CBT practitioner. Consulting for several national and international NGOs working with refugees, victims of gender-based and sexual violence among other populations at risk. Years working in several 'community care' private mental health clinics offering individual, couples and group sessions, with special interest, focus and extensive experience, working with women survivors of violence on areas like women's rights issues, emotional regulation, relationship issues and empowerment, from a Humanistic eclectic perspective. A deep interest and experience, working with clients with Eating Disorders, PTSD (trauma), Sexual Disorders and Personality disorders using techniques adopted, integrated and tailored for various presenting problems and groups. Currently heading the Eating Disorders program on o7therapy. Supervising the ED team and designed the program, the assessment and management process for those struggling with EDs and Body image issues. Founded the Egyptian Initiative for Eating Disorders. Some of the eclectic therapy techniques utilised Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT) based on attachment theory for both individuals and couples and EFFT (family) for Eating disorders, Schema therapy, DBT combined with a psychodynamic humanistic approaches for personality disorders especially Borderline Personality Disorder BPD (individuals and groups) ,CBT-E for Eating Disorders (Anorexia and Bulimia), Trauma Focused therapy, Sex therapy for sexual and gender issues and Dance movement therapy techniques. Embarking on more schema therapy training. Member of ICEEFT and NCfED affiliate. Licensed to practice in UK and Egypt.
