Dr Aruna Mohan completed her undergraduate training in dentistry at Madras Dental College, University Of Madras. The winner of many coveted awards through her school and college days, she also bagged the Best Outgoing Student Award from the University of Madras, and the “Student Plaque Award” from the International College of Dentists (India Section) for her outstanding achievements during her years of study at the Madras Dental College. She completed her Master’s degree in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, USA, before moving to London, where she worked at the Royal London Hospital in the Department of Child Dental Health. On her return to Chennai, Dr Aruna was the first to pioneer the art of fear-free pediatric dentistry, and taught at colleges such as Sri Ramachandra Dental College and Research Institute, and Meenakshi Ammal Dental College, Chennai. She then established the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the Tagore Dental College, Chennai, where she was Professor and Head of the Department, before she decided to move into a full time clinical practice. Dr Aruna completed her diploma in customized orthodontics (IPTM appliance) under the aegis of Progressive America and Smilestream, Inc, USA.  Her clinic, “Tooth Fairy” was an initiative born out of her passion for the science and the art of pediatric dentistry and orthodontics, where testimonials attest to her enviable rapport with little ones, and treatment delivered with care and empathy. True to her belief that putting the patient first is the cornerstone of a successful practice, she cofounded the Capstone Multi-Speciality Clinic, an exclusive outpatient centre in 2018. This was started with the vision to cater to the medical, dental and vaccination needs of the community, with emphasis on holistic treatment delivered with compassion and empathy. Dr Aruna has forayed into the field of healthcare management and continues to challenge the existing, staid status quo in healthcare delivery. Her current role at Capstone involves interweaving administrative responsibilities, employee empowerment, and customer service, with her clinical practice. She continues to set the bar high to optimize delivery of healthcare in the outpatient setting, while exploring innovative preventive health practices.
