Dr. Katsev specializes in corneal surgery, which includes laser treatment for common vision problems, including nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism, as well as corneal transplants. He is certified in all the latest excimer laser systems to provide patients with the most effective, state-of-the-art laser eye surgery technology available. He received his bachelor's degree (Summa Cum Laude) from St. Louis University in Missouri and his medical degree (Magna Cum Laude) from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed his residency at Bethesda Eye Institute, followed by a fellowship in cornea and external disease at UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute. Dr. Katsev is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery as well as the International Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and, is an affiliate of Surgical Eye Expedition (SEE) International. In 2012, he received the American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award for many years of distinguished service to the programs of the Society. As a frequent guest lecturer and an instructor in the field of cataract and refractive surgery, he is also on the editorial board of Cataract & Refractive Surgery Today as well as a board member of American College of Eye Surgeons. Dr. Katsev is involved in FDA clinical studies for new intraocular lenses for cataract surgery and is consultant to ophthalmology companies on new instruments and techniques.
