Pharmacist and Health Psychology researcher with over 30 years experience of working in many different sectors of healthcare (hospital, community, primary care, anticoagulant clinics, workforce development and industrial pharmacy) and different higher education institutions (University of Brighton, Cardiff University and now Cardiff Metropolitan University). Undertook pre-registration pharmacy training in the Oxford region and then worked at Charing Cross Hospital for 5 years starting as a resident pharmacist, then a clinical pharmacist in renal medicine plus education & training lead. After a period working in a Military Hospital in Saudi Arabia, I returned to the UK in 1994 to study Health Psychology (PhD with Prof Rob Horne and Prof John Weinman) and that's where the passion for the subject started. Since then, patients' beliefs and medicine-taking behaviours have been integral to much of the patient-facing work, teaching delivery and research undertaken or supervised. Awarded Fellowship of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in 2019.
