Mr Deepak Hariharan was born in Bangalore, India and pursued undergraduate medical studies to qualify in 2001 from the Government Stanley Medical College and Hospital, Chennai, India. He moved to the United Kingdom in 2002 to pursue postgraduate surgical training. He was awarded MD (Research) degree in 2008 following the completion of thesis looking for biomarkers of pancreas cancer in urine using proteomic strategies from the Queen Mary University of London. He undertook Specialty General and HPB surgery training in the East Midlands at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, UK. He completed the FRCS exit examination in 2014 and was awarded Certificate of Completion of Training in 2016. He undertook subspecialty HPB surgery fellowships at HPB units at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, UK, Royal London Hospital, London, UK and Verona, Italy a dedicated and renowned Pancreas Cancer Centre. He has been working as Consultant General and HPB Surgeon at the Royal London Hospital, London, the UK since 2018. His specialist interest includes treating all benign and malignant conditions affecting the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts and pancreas along with common general surgical conditions presenting electively or as an emergency.
