Hi, my name is Deborah. I am a recent MPH graduate from Tufts University School of Medicine. During my time at Tufts, I completed two public health projects. One project involved collaboration with a family medicine physician at Brigham Women's Hospital. My primary duties were analyzing patient interviews, identifying community partners, and outreaching to social agencies. The other project was about urban planning and ensuring residents' voices are included within the process. Before my public health career, I have five-plus years of experience as a medical interpreter and multilingual educator. As a medical interpreter, I worked with patients to resolve language barriers in clinical settings. In addition, I frequently use infographics and data visualization techniques in my ESL classroom to help seniors improve their dietary behaviors while promoting healthy eating. My volunteer experiences also evolve around working with marginalized populations like terminally ill patients and children of immigrants. As an aspiring physician and public health researcher, I welcome health disparities, qualitative research, and disease prevention opportunities varying from a wide array of public health topics. However, my main objective is to advocate for marginalized populations while maximizing positive health outcomes for local, national, and international populations.
