I qualified as an occupational therapist in 1985. Since that time I have worked extensively in acute hospital and community settings taking sole responsibility for the management of a significant number of complex cases. My community experience has been as a Senior Occupational Therapist and also as an Assistant Team Manager of a busy social services department in a metropolitan borough. The department provided assessment, rehabilitation and project management for children and adults in a widely varied socio-economic group. . I have also gained experience in Manual Handling training and environmental assessments including liaising with specialist architects. I joined Tania Brown Ltd Expert Witness, Case Management Services and Rehabilitation Services in 2007 and have been responsible for assessing the needs of disabled clients including children in their own homes or in residential settings and making recommendations regarding care adaptations and equipment. I have prepared medico-legal reports for adults with a wide variety of physical and psychological disabilities. I have also undertaken a Case Management role, organising care-packages and involved in the rehabilitation of clients with Acquired Brain Injury, setting and reviewing goals as required. I also have extensive experience of working for an NHS community pain service. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team I have helped to develop a pain management programme with a "solution focused approach". I am an active member of the British Pain Society and Secretary of the Pain Management Programme Special Interest Group. I have worked as an expert witness for ten years and have been instructed by both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors. In addition to expert witness work I undertake clinical work for nbarehab. I have an on-going commitment as part of my continuous professional development to attend relevant courses and exhibitions to maintain and advance my expertise.
