Mr David Mahon is a consultant gastrointestinal surgeon with a special interest in advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. His specialist interests include the treatment of gallstones, hernias, reflux and obesity. Mr Mahon graduated from The University of Sheffield in 1993 and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1999. He undertook a doctoral research degree and was awarded the degree of MD in 2006 before being appointed as a Consultant Specialist Upper GI & Bariatric surgeon in 2007. In addition to his clinical role, Mr Mahon has had a number of managerial positions within the NHS, including Clinical Lead, Clinical Director and Associate Medical Director. He remains an active participant in research and undertakes regular teaching and training roles locally and nationally. He actively participates in a number of specialist committees together with governmental bodies, such as NICE, the Royal College of Surgeons and Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons, of which he is the President-Elect. David was born and brought up in Yorkshire, but has now been living in Somerset with his family for over 10 years.
