David is a highly experienced Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and Medical Manager. He has specialised in working with and providing services for young people with the most complex needs and risks, often following psychological trauma, who may attract diagnoses of complex PTSD or emerging Personality Disorder. David was Medical Director at Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal from 2013 - 2015, at which time he was appointed national Clinical Director for CAMHS for Priory Group. David is CEO of Care in Mind, an organisation that he set up in 2008, providing 24/7 specialist mental health supported residential care for complex and risky young people and young adults aged 16-25 across the North of England. Care in Mind offers a unique package of care to young people and has unrivalled success in supporting some very challenging young people, who may have previously been inpatients for several years, to make the transition to successful independent lives in the community. The increasing reputation of the organisation and positive outcomes have supported its growth. Having worked as a CAMHS LSU consultant for 10 years, David has until recently been National Clinical Lead of the CAMHS Low Secure Network for NHS England. In 2009, his unit, Woodlands, was the first independent sector or adolescent service to win the NAPICU Team of the Year Award. David also spent six years as a clinical member of the Specialist CAMHS Clinical Reference Group (CRG) for NHSE. He is a member of the exec committee of the Adolescent Forensic Psychiatry SIG and sits on the exec committee of the Child and Adolescent Faculty of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He is a member of the Standards, Certification and Awards committee of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management and is Honorary Treasurer of the British and Irish Group for the Study of Personality Disorder.
