David Gorard qualified in 1984 at St Mary's Hospital (London), trained in general medicine at various hospitals in London and the Midlands, and then undertook gastroenterology research at St Bartholomew's Hospital, London. Subsequently he was senior registrar at the Royal London and Oldchurch Hospitals. Having been accredited as a specialist (GMC register) in General Medicine and in Gastroenterology, he was appointed as consultant at Wycombe Hospital in 1996. At Wycombe Hospital he has served as Clinical Director of Medicine, chairman of the Medical Staff Committee and regional representative/secretary for the Oxford region Gut club. He has served as lead gastroenterologist for Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust. He is accredited by the Joint Advisory Group on Gastrointestinal Endoscopy as a colonoscopist for the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. David Gorard has interests in endoscopy and hepatobiliary disease as well as general gastroenterology. He has published several papers relating to gastroenterology, hepatology, nutrition and general medicine in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
