Mr Craig Gerrand is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 20 years of experience. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1989, and subsequently completed his higher surgical training in Glasgow. He undertook fellowships in Orthopaedic Oncology and Lower Limb Reconstruction at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. Mr Gerrand was appointed a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2001, and joined the Sarcoma team RNOH 2018. His clinical interests include benign and malignant bone and soft tissue tumours, including bone and soft tissue sarcoma and metastatic bone disease. He has also researched extensively on this topic, with his research interests involving the diagnosis and surgical management of bone and soft tissue sarcomas, as well as metastatic bone diseases, clinical trials pertaining to sarcomas, rehabilitation, survivorship, and surgical outcomes. He has also written theses on topics such as soft tissue sarcoma and innovation in the National Health Service.
