London, United Kingdom
I began training as a Pharmacy Technician in August 1988 at Oldchurch Hospital in Romford, Essex and qualified in 1990. I remained working within Havering Hospitals for the next decade. Over this time, as well as Oldchurch, I worked at Rush Green, Harold Wood and Warley Hospitals gaining a wide range of skills and knowledge. I completed local accreditation's in patient counselling and final accuracy checking but by the end of the nineties I felt that the time was right to move on. In April 2000 I started work as a rotational clinical technician at Guy's & St Thomas' - moving through paediatrics, renal, and outpatient rotations. In 2002 I moved from the rotation and took up a permanent role in the Education & Development team overseeing the introduction of the NVQ Level 2 qualification for the pharmacy assistants at the Trust. I gained my Certificate in Education in 2004 and since then have taken on more teaching roles within various colleges. I have been the course lead for the Level 3 Pharmacy Diploma at Bromley College and course tutor for the Level 2 Pharmacy Certificate at SEEVIC College in Benfleet. I am now the Chief Pharmacy Technician for Education and Workforce Development at Guy's and St Thomas'.
