Qualifying from York St John University in 2014, first I completed two years in the band 5 rotation at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS trust which included time on medical elderly wards, elective orthopedics, rheumatology and stroke. I then worked in the community as a band 6 for two years, followed by one year acting up into the band 7 post (covering maternity leave). This team worked with patients with a primary diagnosis of a brain or spinal tumour, so developed my knowledge of neuro oncology, cognitive and physical rehabilitation and complex moving and handling skills. A secondment opportunity arose, which led to me moving back into the hospital for 13 months acting up as a clinical lead specialist occupational therapist on a complex/neuro rehabilitation ward. I then spent 10 months in an intermediate care role with Humber Trust before relocating back to North Yorkshire and taking a part time role with Leeds Community Healthcare Trust alongside private practice work as a Rehabilitate Therapy Associate. I am a member of RCOT.
