Who we are, what makes us tick, and how to be the best possible version of ourselves is something I have been researching and working with for over 25 years. In that time I've manged teams of social workers in local authority Children's Services across England and Wales, ran youth services for the British Forces in Cyprus, and supported vulnerable young people with complex needs in the criminal justice system. 2015 was an exciting year during which I left the public sector and extended my professional training to qualify as a therapist specialising in BrainWorking Recursive Therapy (BWRT), a highly effective psychotherapy rooted in neuroscience. These days I run a thriving private practice, working with people of all ages, and with all kinds of anxieties, fears and phobias. I'm especially passionate about helping people build self-esteem and confidence in all areas of life. Alongside this, my company offers corporate employee-assistance programmes, which help to improve staff wellness so that retention rates are high and sickness absences low. I'm a firm believer that a happy workplace is a recipe for success for any organisation. HARP - Southend's homelessness charity - is a leading example of this philosophy, employing my company to deliver a Staff Well-Being Service. Now in its third year, the service focuses on stress-reduction and 121 trauma-related therapy, and facilitates team meetings for reflective practice along with group mindfulness sessions.
