I am currently employed as a senior policy associate with the Health Policy department of the London School of Economics and Political Science, where I am contributing to national and international health research and policy projects. Current projects include an LSE/Lancet commission on the Future of the NHS, and the Onassis transplantation project which will deliver a new organ donation and transplantation policy for Greece. By background I am a medically trained doctor. Having completed my MBChB in Manchester, I moved to London to train in mental health in 2001. I have had a long clinical career and until 2017 was consultant psychiatrist to the Early Intervention in Psychosis team in City and Hackney, East London NHS Foundation Trust. I have broad experience of working in many different mental health services in and around the London area, and extensive knowledge of working in relatively deprived, inner city environments with people from many different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. I also have extensive experience in team leadership, management, teaching and supervision. I completed a master’s degree in Health Policy, Planning and Financing with the London School of Economics and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2019. I also have a master’s degree in Culture and Health from University College London.
