Mr Charles Gozzard has been a Consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth since 2008. Mr Gozzard currently devotes his elective practice to the management and treatment of hand and wrist problems. Mr Gozzard also works as a general trauma surgeon within the Major Trauma Centre at Derriford Hospital, where he developed a specialist interest in dealing with complex wrist trauma. Mr Gozzards private practice is run through the Nuffield Health Plymouth Hospital and is entirely devoted to problems of the hand and wrist. Mr Gozzard qualified from the Royal London Hospital in 1994 and was appointed a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1998. After this, he undertook specialist training in Trauma and Orthopaedics in Bristol and completed his specialty training in 2007. He has since developed a sub-specialist interest in hand and wrist surgery and furthered his interest and training by working in an Advanced Training Post in Hand Surgery in Oxford in 2006. Awarded a travelling fellowship by the British Society for Surgery of the Hand, Charles then undertook an international Hand Surgery Fellowship in Sydney, Australia in 2007. Since being appointed consultant, Charles has worked to improve both elective and hand surgery services, providing a complex wrist fracture service and well as a tertiary referral Dupuytrens contracture clinic. He also continues to be involved in research, with roles as the Chief Investigator and Principal Investigator in both local and multi-centre hand surgery trials.
