I am the Head of Gastrointestinal Surgery at the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. As an experienced consultant colorectal and general surgeon, I am a national leader and international trainer in robotic surgery, specialising in the treatment of cancer and non-cancerous bowel conditions plus abdominal wall and groin hernias. Since September 2022 I have been employed by HCA Healthcare UK to deliver robotic colorectal surgical services. I undertook basic surgical training in London and was awarded an MD from the University of London following research into colorectal cancer and minimally invasive surgery. I undertook higher surgical training at the Oxford Deanery following which I was selected for the National Ethicon Fellowship in Advanced Colorectal Surgery. I completed my training with a further fellowship in complex colorectal surgery at St Mark's Hospital, London. I am is committed to the development, research and training of colorectal surgery acting as chair of The Association of Coloproctology Of Great Britain and Ireland’s robotic committees. I help to guide and develop national research and training whilst also supervising innovative research projects working alongside industry and Warwick University. I believe in a patient centred approach to care, ensuring treatments are tailored to the individual and working with multidisciplinary teams when complex. I have expertise in the surgical management of bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and functional bowel disorders. I have an interest in perianal conditions including haemorrhoids, fistula and fissures, has advanced skills in hernia repair and has accreditation for lower bowel endoscopy.
