As a social work intern at the Northridge Hospital Medical Center, I was immersed in intensive supervision and multi-departmental training with a diverse cohort of social work trainees. The program’s emphasis on a Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual diagnostic frame has nurtured my clinical proficiency in conducting holistic assessments that inform clinical identification and referrals to specialized services. During the course of my training, I have obtained practicum experience assessing and treating a range of patients using time-limited and evidenced-based treatment models. As a postgraduate, I have worked with several departments including: Telemetry/Medical-Surgical, Oncology, Intensive Care Unit, Natal Intensive Care Unit, Labor Delivery/Postpartum, Pediatrics, and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. In my recent work with College Medical Center, I have been afforded the opportunity to further expand my knowledge of the hospital social worker’s duties and responsibilities. Within the Behavioral Health department I have learned to assess the needs of those suffering from a variety of mental illness and medically related issues. Also working to connect with referring patients to Federal, State and County assistance programs. I have developed a strong interest in medical social work and plan to continue working within the field in the long run. I am excited to potentially build on these professional interests with your organization.
