Most of my childhood was spent in lower class areas in & around Anaheim near Disneyland. It was mostly orange groves back then.🌳 I had 3 older brothers & was the youngest. My mom was a single mom raising us. When I was a small child, my father left my mom for a man.🤔 His choices set into action what can be summed up as a roller coaster of catastrophic events of epic proportions, the stuff that movies are made of.💪 My brother who was closest in age to me, had leukemia & passed away when I was 7, he was 14 ~ my most tragic memory. My other 2 brothers spent their life in & out of trouble with the law.😳 This is what happens when you don’t have supervision during the 70s. My mom did the best she could taking care of us on a nurse’s income.👩‍⚕️ I grew up in the days of latchkey kids. This is when your brothers are supposed to be watching you but leave you alone when you’re 7.🤦‍♀️ So, I learned to be independent, resilient, clever, & resourceful at a very young age. I became a skill collector. I learned to make the most of every situation to make it better. I’d walk home from school & no one would be there, so I’d drop off my books & walk 3 miles to the local movie theater. I’d plop my little arm down on the theater box office podium with my bag of pennies (movies were $1.00) & the usher explaining to me I can’t go into the R rated movie. Somehow I managed to bypass him😏 leaving him my bag of pennies (this is where I learned tenacity)💰& watching my first movie: Harold & Maude. It was a depressing movie but so began my passion & love affair with movies & mind numbing hours of extraordinary entertainment. My life journey has been a steady climb🧗‍♀️with lots of obstacles. My life inventory: 34 jobs before I got the dream job, 12 boyfriends before I met the right guy, 9 majors in college before I graduated in business, 327 skills collected & I have learned perseverance, curiosity, integrity, authenticity, kindness, optimism, self-awareness, compassion, wisdom, balance, laughter, & love are the top 12.🌟
