I am driven and passionate about living life to the fullest and making the most of every opportunity, which I hope to share with my clients and colleagues by inspiring, teaching and learning. Too often therapy is what is done to an individual rather than with an individual. My philosophy is that therapy is there to guide and support autonomy and the most meaningful and high quality life possible. I hope to facilitate that in my assessment and intervention and collaboration. I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2000 in South Africa before moving to the UK. I have been a therapist in the areas of mental-health, medical, brain injury, neurological progressive conditions, working with adult and elderly populations. I have experience in both hospital, residential and community-based settings, in the NHS and private sector. I am a registered OT in South Africa, UK and the USA, and I live permanently in the UK working locally and internationally. Maximising client independence and participation are central to my interventions. I believe that involving the entire multidisciplinary team are pivotal to underpinning client success, including service redesign and change management as appropriate to optimise healthcare delivery. I am experienced working with service users who have challenging behaviours, postural difficulties and dysexecutive syndrome. In addition to my broad experience in functional treatment, I have a keen interest in using tools to maximise engagement and participation, including complex rehabilitation technologies for prevention, compensation and rehabilitation. Specialties: Management - Team leading, internal marketing, service coordination, change management Specialities: Occupational Therapy - Neurological conditions (CVA, Parkinsons, ABI, TBI, Progressive conditions) and concomitant diagnoses for adults and older adults, Community and Acute settings.
