Mr Bhupendra Dev Sarmah is a leading urologist with over 30 years of consultant-grade experience who continues to practice at Spire Parkway Hospital,Solihull. Following retirement from Heartlands and Solihull Hospitals at the end of 2018,Mr Sarmah has continued to provide a substantial support to urology patients in the Midlands both by part time NHS appointments and his private practice. Mr.Sarmah has a specialist interest in the treatment of prostate and bladder cancer, benign prostate enlargement (BPH), , kidney/ureteric stones from diagnosis to treatment, minimally-invasive vasectomy surgery and vasectomy reversal.In addition, he is an avid supporter for day surgery for all scrotal daycase procedures.For High risk bladder cancer Mr Sarmah started Blue Light Cystocopy(PDD) at Solihull hospital in 2008 which is the standard of care for high risk non muscle invasive bladder cancer. At Solihull Hospital, Mr Sarmah established the use of Green Light Laser (PVP) for BPH in 2008 with HPS fibre, upgrading to Moxy fibre in 2013, and is an avid supporter of day cases for this procedure.Mr.Sarmah carries out Green Light laser prostatectomies at Spire Parkway Hospital and is very keen to promote day case surgery for this with trial without catheter after few days.in selected patients with excellent family support. Newer technologies with Bipolar TURPs using normal saline has been introduced at Spire Parkway following acquirement of a new generator which is of course much safer than standard TURP's. Mr.Sarmah's contribution to open radical prostatectomy and open radical cystectomy with neo-bladder reconstruction has been immense from 1997 to 2020.
