My name is Bethany and I am currently working as an Occupational Therapy assistant whilst completing the OT degree apprenticeship. Previously I completed a Bachelor in Fashion and Textiles which has continued to support my creative skills when working in a holistic and person centred way as an OTA. I have several years of experience working in healthcare within 4 different roles. These roles have been in mental health settings learning about various mental health conditions and treatments/therapy’s available. I have helped nurse patients with complex needs with all cases being different. Bank shifts has allowed me to complete extra shifts to broaden my experience in various settings. I have been given the opportunity to complete training such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy co facilitator training, blood taking and various other non mandatory training. Within my degree apprenticeship I have also gained experience within a range of settings by completing placements. These include Community Dementia, Learning Disability inpatient and community services, General hospital (Intensive Therapy unit, Respiratory Support unit, Oncology, Medical and care of the elderly), and more to follow for 3rd year placements.
