I have worked as a nurse in healthcare since 1982. I graduated from IUPUI Adult Primary Health-Nurse Practitioner Master's program in 1994. I completed a post-master's program in pediatrics at Northern Kentucky University in 1997. I currently work as an FNP-C in a level 1 academic teaching center in Indianapolis and currently work in a level 1 emergency medicine and trauma center where I am employed as an advanced practice nurse and forensic nurse. I received my J.D. degree at Thomas M. Cooley Law School in January 2007 and practice as a solo attorney in Indianapolis guardianships, and consultant work with attorneys in the area of elder law, personal injury, and criminal cases involving interpersonal violence. I am active in several professional nursing and law organizations. I was one of the original members who helped establish the professional forensic nursing organization the Academy of Forensic Nursing in 2018. I currently educate forensic nurses, law enforcement, attorneys, and advocates in Indiana regarding strangulation, domestic violence, sexual assault, and intentional blunt force and penetrating trauma. I am currently enrolled in an MPH program at the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health at IUPUI with a projected date of graduation in May 2024. I proudly served in the US Army National Guard for 29 years before retiring in 2009.
