Description

Mr. Bachar Zelhof is a highly skilled Consultant Urological Surgeon affiliated with Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, where he practises at Manchester Royal Infirmary and Wythenshawe Hospital. With a comprehensive approach to general urology, Mr. Zelhof manages various urological conditions, including prostatic disease, kidney stones, recurrent urinary tract infections, overactive bladder, haematuria (blood in urine), and scrotal surgery. He has a sub-specialist interest in robotic and laparoscopic kidney and ureteric surgeries, such as partial or total nephrectomy for kidney cancer or benign conditions, pelvi-ureteric obstruction, and ureteric re-implantation. Mr. Zelhofs professional journey includes specialised urological training in the North West Deanery, resulting in the accreditation of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in July 2014. He further developed his skills and expertise in kidney stones and robotic surgery through international experiences in Amsterdam, Strasbourg, and Wurzburg. Notably, he is one of the highest-volume surgeons for robotic kidney surgery in the Northwest and currently serves as a proctor for the Da Vinci robot, actively mentoring consultants and trainees in robotic kidney surgery. In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Zelhof is a valuable member of the endometriosis team at St Marys Hospital and the Alexandra Hospital in Manchester, where he contributes his expertise in minimally invasive surgery for complex endometriosis cases involving the bladder or ureters. Mr. Zelhof is a dedicated researcher with an impressive portfolio of over 30 publications and numerous presentations at international and national conferences. He achieved his research doctorate (MD with honours) from the University of Hull after an intensive study focused on multi-parametric magnetic resonance imaging in prostate cancer. His research aims to optimise diagnostic and treatment pathways, ultimately enhancing surgical outcomes for patients. In addition to his clinical and research work, Mr. Zelhof is involved in medical education. He has led undergraduate teaching in surgery for seven years and currently holds the position of a senior honorary lecturer at the University of Manchester. He also takes the lead in the kidney cancer module for the Northwest Urology MSc degree. Mr. Zelhof is a qualified educational supervisor, having completed Post Graduate Medical Education training in 2014, which allows him to serve as an Educational Supervisor, contributing to the training and development of medical professionals.
