Dr. Ahuero, a native of Corpus Christi, Texas, obtained her Bachelors degree at Stanford University and her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston where she finished in the top 10% of her class and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Completing her residency training in Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, she then completed a distinguished Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship offered through the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). This highly competitive fellowship is exclusively dedicated to plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, orbit, lacrimal system (tear drain) and upper face. Dr. Ahuero has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and serves as a reviewer for Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as the Digital Journal of Ophthalmology.Dr. Ahueros specific interests include facial rejuvenation, eyelid lifts, eyelid malposition correction, skin cancer reconstruction and treatment of tearing disorders. She welcomes adult and pediatric patients.Dr. Ahuero is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, American College of Surgeons, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Houston Ophthalmological Society and Harris County Medical Society. She is involved in civic organizations such as Daughters of the American Revolution and the Junior League of Houston and volunteers through Faith in Practice for medical mission trips to Guatemala.
