I am currently working as a rotational Band 6 Occupational Therapist at Addenbrooke's Hosptial. My job role includes overseeing the Occupational Therapy Process from start to finish. I screen referrals, ensure they are appropriate, prioritize them and delegate where possible. I carry out initial assessment and set collaborative goals which work toward discharge from hospital. I design treatment plans, oversee these and delegate where appropriate to Occupational Therapy Assistants. I review the patients on my existing caseload frequently in order to tweak treatment plans or goals where necessary. I am also involved in the discharge planning process from acute hospital to home or to more appropriate settings e.g. inpatient rehabilitation or specialist cognitive rehabilitation facilities. I also complete orders and provide recommendations for Reablement or care services. I refer onward to community Occupational Therapy teams where patients have outstanding needs in their own home environment which are non-urgent. I am involved in student development and education along with other service development projects. The main service development project I am currently working on is based on aiming to produce a departmental guide for new supervisors when supervising Occupational Therapy students, or other, less experienced Occupational Therapists.
