Yaa Yamoah, MSW, LCSWA (she/her), is a recent graduate of the School of Social Work at UNC-Chapel Hill. She is passionate about working with and supporting neurodivergent folks as they experience life transitions and learn to better understand their emotions. The focus of her clinical work is to validate the client’s emotions and provide empathy. She will also provide clients with practical skills which can be used to decrease the intensity of certain emotions so that they can live their best life. Yaa is a clinician who strives to work with clients to help them to find their authentic self.Yaa has been trained in several therapeutic modalities using an eclectic style, however she pulls highly from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, and Trauma Informed therapy. Additionally, she has a strong interest in working with neurodivergent clients on sexual health, safety, relationships, gender, and sexual identity.Yaa is enthusiastic about bringing her whole self to her work with clients to build rapport and comfortability into each session. As a Black clinician, she hopes to connect with future clients of color and provide an inclusive and empowering space to discuss issues that arise around race, neurodiversity, and their intersections.
