Dr Aparna Hoskote is a Consultant Paediatric Cardiac Intensivist, based at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust and an Honorary Senior Lecturer, UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, London. She also sees patients privately, including at The Portland Hospital.Dr Hoskote has worked in Cardiac Intensive Care and Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) for 18 years at GOSH, which is a quaternary referral centre for children with congenital heart disease, and a nationally commissioned centre for Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), mechanical bridge to transplantation, cardiothoracic transplantation, primary pulmonary hypertension and tracheal disease. She completed paediatric intensive care medicine training in India, the UK and Canada and she an ongoing interest in research, with a focus on establishing measures to identify neurological impairment and neurodisability before and after major cardiac surgery. This is to establish structured follow-up for ECLS survivors and to study cerebral oximetry as an early marker of brain ischaemia. Dr Hoskote has expertise in clinical governance, patient safety and quality improvement within paediatric cardiac intensive care. She is a member of the Paediatric Intensive Care Society (PICS), UK and is on the Mechanical Circulatory Support Task Force of ESPNIC (European Society of Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care).
