I am very passionate about the care of people living with dementia and believe in a multidisciplinary team approach to improving quality of care and outcomes for them and their families. This approach can help maximise health and well being and facilitate a life to the full approach whilst living with a difficult long term condition. I am thrilled to be joining the RMBI in October 2016 to support medicines optimisation , medicines systems and dementia care. I was Director of Pharmacy and Dementia Care for Avante Care for more than years during which their CQC ratings included one outstanding and I developed a bespoke personalised medicines pathway. October 2016 appointed guardian for CPPE care home educational resource. As you will see from this very brief introduction I am a multi disciplined professional whose work ethic and purpose is to be someone who helps to make a real difference to people and their care. April 2013 I have been appointed to the bank of specialist advisor at the CQC I have also reviewed modules for the University of Bradford GP with special interest dementia course I am a member of the RPS, a PHWsI I.P Post Grad (Dementia) and recently designed an audit for low dose anti-psychotic medication in Primary Care and went on to re-evaluate dementia patients in GP practices with a view to withdrawal of these medications while at the same time working very closely with Care Homes. The close working with Care Homes in Medway meant that I was able to implement changes to prescribing and deal with behaviours that challenge in Dementia. I am an Independent Prescriber who has a special interest in Care Home Medication Management and Dementia and hold a Post Grad Certificate in this subject at Masters Level. I am passionate about the care of the elderly and those who become residents in Care Homes and has been involved in the Institute of Health’s Dementia Call to Action and been part of several national steering groups.
