Mr Andrew Ballaro, Senior Consultant Urological Surgeon, works across North London and Essex in both private and NHS posts. He is highly specialised in the treatment of all aspects of urology, with specific interests in surgery for kidney stones, surgery for the enlarged prostate causing symptoms or urinary retention and the diagnosis of prostate problems including cancer. He offers a range of procedures for prostate issues including TURP, laser prostatectomy (HOLEP), minimally invasive REZUM steam therapy, and MRI-fusion template prostate biopsies - the most minimally invasive and accurate method of detecting prostate cancer. Mr Ballaro began his medical training at The Royal Free Hospital Medical School, following his qualification he undertook a Masters in Urology, and a Doctorate in Medicine in Clinical Sciences from University College London. He then progressed on to do Higher Specialist Training in Urology on the North London Training Rotation. He has further developed his skills by undertaking training in complex stone surgery from internationally renowned surgeons. He was also awarded several fellowships and subsequently was later awarded a Hunterian Professorship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Mr Ballaro has over 15 years of experience as a Consultant in both NHS and private positions, he has been named a leading specialist for kidney stone surgery. He has also published extensively on the best surgical outcomes for complex stone removal operations, urological stent design, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and the basic science of bladder dysfunction. He trains colleagues of all levels, is invited to present his finding at conferences and has contributed to several textbooks and is co-editor of the standard medical student urology textbook- Lecture notes in urology. Mr Ballaro has been approved by all major insurance companies and runs an online practice supported by a professional team.
