Mr Anand Kelkar specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate, bladder and kidney cancer. He has particular expertise in robotic prostatectomy for the treatment of prostate cancer , in particular Nerve sparing prostatectomy for preservation of potency . He has been performing surgery for these cancers for over 30 years. He is one of the very few Urologists in the country skilled in all three approaches, i.e. open, laparoscopic and robotic. He has performed more than 1000 prostatectomies including more than 500 of Robotic prostate surgery. He has extensive experience in laparoscopic and open Kidney surgery and reconstruction techniques. He performs MRI guided targeted biopsies for more accurate diagnosis of prostate cancer. In addition he treats male and female urinary infections, renal stone disease, benign prostate conditions and erectile dysfunction. Mr Anand Kelkar works as a Consultant Urologist Surgeon at the University College London Hospital and is a part of the Robotic Surgery and Uro-Oncology team, performing complex pelvic surgery. He also works at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) and is the Lead for urological cancer services and the cancer multidisciplinary teams (MDT). There he works closely with colorectal surgeons and gynaecologists in complex pelvic operations. Mr Anand Kelkar qualified at King Edward Memorial Hospital in 1987 and continued postgraduate urological fellowship training at the Royal Marsden, Charring Cross, Hammersmith and Royal Free Hospitals in London. He additionally received advanced training in laparoscopic and robotic surgery at Kings College, London Hamburg and Belgium
