I have always had a drive for working with patients who are experiencing mental health issues. From a young age I knew that I wanted to work in mental health and directed my A levels towards this career path. In addition to my training as an Occupational Therapist, I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology/Sociology, and an Master's degree in Health Psychology. These qualifications have further developed my understanding of Biopsychosocial approaches, which contribute to health and well being. I have over 6 years’ experience of working with a variety of different client groups within mental health services. My current role as an Occupational Therapist within Liaison Psychiatry allows me to practice within a setting that observes the interaction between psychological and physical health. I enjoy working in a rehabilitation setting in which I practice my core skills as an Occupation Therapist including SMART goal setting, grading and pacing. Throughout my training and experience, I have been able to put theory into practice, enabling individuals to overcome barriers that prevent engagement in occupation - thus enabling recovery through improving independence, and improvement in quality of life.
