Ahmad Abdelmaksoud FRCS. FRCOPHTH MSc MedEd; is an ophthalmic surgeon , academic lecturer, examiner, and a tutor living and practising in the United Kingdom. His main interest is cornea and refractive surgery. In addition to his clinical practice, Ahmed has an interest in teaching, and holds a Masters in medical education from Manchester University, with a special interest in simulation in surgical training. Ahmed also is a microsurgical skills trainer at the Royal College of ophthalmologist in London. He is a PLAB2 examiner which is the main exam for entry of foreign doctors to the United Kingdom. And if that’s just not enough , he is also a software and website developer, a certified personal gym trainer, and a certified les mills Bodypump exercise instructor. In 2018 he Developed his website; Eyetriage.uk which aims to help many hospitals around the world in triaging emergency referrals. He has multiple publications in ophthalmology and medical education. Ahmed got his primary medical degree in 2001 in Alexandria, where he also got his basic Ophthalmology training. ThIs was followed by the fellowship of the Royal College of physicians and surgeons from Glasgow, a fellowship of the Royal College of ophthalmologist in London. He also won an ICO funded fellowship at the New York Eye and Ear infirmary. He then moved to the UK, climbing the ladder and finishing his requirements to specialising in cornea and refractive surgery. When he's not stabbing people in the eye, you would find him reading in his study room diligently at 6am, playing tennis, instructing in the gym, or watching Liverpool playing football. And if his lovely wife is not looking, playing FIFA or Samurai Shodown on his game console with his kids. He is an electric and acoustic guitar player, a piano enthusiast and a song writer. He currently lives with his family in the quite suburban area of Dore, south of Sheffield
