London, United Kingdom
I am a Consultant Cardiologist with a special interest in arrhythmia (electrophysiology). I perform ablations for arrhythmia and pacemaker and defibrillator implants. I perform complex ablations and complex device implants in the NHS at Bart's Heart Centre, Europe's largest cardiac centre, and run a busy arrhythmia clinical service at Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, one of London's busiest NHS Trusts. I see patients privately in Central London at One Heart Clinic and The Harley Street Clinic and in Redbridge at Spire London East, and also at Chiswick Medical Centre in West London (www.drafzalsohaib.co.uk) I trained at the Imperial College NHS Trust and Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospitals NHS Trust and have a PhD from Imperial College. I have published widely in the field of arrhythmia, devices, and medical education. I have a special interest in education and developing tomorrow’s cardiologists. I am currently Chair of the European Society of Cardiology's (ESC) "Young Committee" and also serve on the ESC Media Committee and Stroke Council. I edited the textbook "Decoding Cardiac Electrophysiology" which aims to demystify much of the jargon used by heart rhythm specialists. I am also on the editorial board of Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology Review.
