Biography
Greetings and welcome! My name is Abu M. Nasim and I am a licensed psychologist in the state of New York. I specialize with working with children as young as the age of 2, to young adults up to the age of 25. I have extensive experience working with children diagnosed with autism, and with supporting families in navigating how to best advocate for their child. I specialize with providing ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) services, as well with ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). My goal as a psychologist is to help my client grow and thrive, and to overcome current life challenges.
I am trained to be sensitive to the socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds of all clients. I am confident with working with BIPOC (black, indigenous, and people of color) clients. Moreover, with clients who identify as LGBTQ+. I am additionally trained to understand client conflict in relation to systemic and cultural biases (such as sexism and racism). I bring a non-judgmental and open atmosphere to my therapy sessions. My counseling style utilizes techniques from ACT, CBT (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy), and Solution Focused Therapy. I focus on teaching my clients practical skills they can apply to their current life challenges, and to future challenges they may face.
While counseling should be effective, it doesn't have to be dry and boring! I bring joy and humor to my sessions. I aim for clients to feel more empowered and joyful after each of our sessions.
If you like my therapeutic style, I would be humbled to work together with you. =)
