I am a dedicated, enthusiastic senior Occupational Therapist. I have many years experience working within various settings within both health and social care in Ireland, England and Wales . I specialised within elderly care rehab enabling persons to attain maximum function, regain confidence and improve quality of life. Also gained opportunity to assist persons placed in residential care to return back home, through identifying and meeting their needs and referring to appropriate services to support them at home and providea rehab, MOW, social help and equipment provisions. I have a number of years experience working within a locked rehab mental health male unit for adults with complex mental health needs, where the focus was rehabilitation and recovery working closely as part of the MDT in assisting patients along their recovery pathway. I was responsible for implementing group and individual sessions as part of this process. Devised OT paperwork, audits and risk management and worked at managerial level. Prior to this I worked on elderly acute/ medical/surgical/assessment/A&E with focus on discharge planning and prevention of re-admission through ensuring safe discharge. During this time I managed heavy caseloads often over three fast paced wards which I found immensely challenging and satisfying working in various teams sometimes within a collaborative role which provided me opportunity to gain many competencies I would not have otherwise attained. Experience of being an active Clinical Governance team member, being part of the management team and developing an OT service with setting up the OT department, engaging within devising care plans/ management plans audits and required OT paperwork have provided me with comprehensive skills to progress further within my career.
